These services form core supports in the Government\u2019s ambition to help people with disabilities live ordinary lives in ordinary places, in line with the United Nations Convention on the Rights of People with Disabilities (UNCRPD).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Action Plan has been developed on foot of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.ie\/en\/publication\/d3b2c-disability-capacity-review-to-2032-a-review-of-social-care-demand-and-capacity-requirements-to-2032\/\">Disability Capacity Review to 2032 \u2013 A Review of Social Care Demand and Capacity Requirements to 2032.<\/a> This review set out the extra capacity requirements for community disability services up to 2032, based on an analysis of demographic trends and unmet need.&nbsp; Following its publication, Government committed to working towards implementing its recommendations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Disability Action Plan 2024 \u2013 2026 represents the first phase in this process of implementation. Its main focus is on service expansion for disability services and the key priorities in this regard are:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Increasing capacity of Children\u2019s Disability Network Teams, in conjunction with the upcoming Roadmap for Service Improvement 2023 \u2013 2025 in Children\u2019s Disability Services<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Increased personal assistance and home support hours<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Efforts to accelerate the decongregation programme<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Increasing capacity for planned residential placements<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Expansion of respite provision<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>For more information please see the official <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.ie\/en\/press-release\/ae9f1-minister-roderic-o-gorman-and-minister-anne-rabbitte-welcome-government-approval-of-the-disability-action-plan-2024-2026\/#:~:text=%E2%80%9CI%20am%20very%20proud%20to,people%20with%20disabilities%20would%20follow.\">press release<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Minister for Children, Equality, Disability, Integration and Youth, Roderic O\u2019Gorman, and Minister of State for Disabilities, Anne Rabbitte, today welcomed Government approval of the Disability Action Plan 2024-2026.
